What to Study in Labs of Advanced Computer Architecture |

Hi...
I am a Computer Engineering Student doing my specialization in Computer Hardware (SOC , Computer Archetecture).And in my last Semester so also busy in my Final Year Project.
As i am in Pioneer Batch(First Batch) of my University So here i got a another problem...
Problem is that even teacher donot know what to teach in the Labs of that course...and no pattern or course outline is provided to him.
Actualy teacher is also new in that area ...as his actual field was Signals And Telecom...and now he is going for PHD in Computer Archetecture ...
The theory of course , he designed is to study the intel pentium-4 architecture ... but it not looks practical and professional ... asintel donot open its secrets so its strange to study it...
Teacher even donot know VHDL and nothing about FPGA etc...so he is trying to exclude the labs ...
But as it is my specialization cours and as i know VHDl and also of FPGA etc...so i know the importance of labs in that course...
So i want to personaly do the labs ...plz suggest
1- what to study (some thing profession instead of intel)
2- What to do in Labs
3- Websites which can help in that regard
4- Websites of different universities which Offer Computer Architecture and aslo its labs...and their course outlines
