Volume not appearing in Shadow Copy Storage Area list |
|
|
Greetings.
Ran into an odd problem - any ideas?
Given:
* Windows 2003 SP1 Ent. Ed.
* 3 NTFS Volumes: N:, P:, V: 1TB, 256GB, 256GB respectively.
Problem:
When attempting to enable Shadow Copies (SC) for N:, with separate storage
on V:, V: is not listed as a choice. However, N: does appear in the list.
Additional info:
* At first, I thought that the size of V: might be an issue, so I contiued
expanding it until it equalled the size of N:, which _does appear in the
list. It still did not show up.
* If setting up SC for P:, both V: and N: _will_ appear in the list!
* If setting up SC for V:, both N: and P: _will_ appear in the list.
* If there was a maximum size limit for SC, P: would not appear in N:'s list.
* If the destination size was too small, neither V: nor P: would appear in
N's list because they're the same size (256GB).
ANY IDEAS???
Am I missing something simple?
Thanks in advance,

Solved!
Solution: V: was dependent on N: in clustering. Once I removed the
dependency, V: showed up in N:'s list.
Strange but true.
