Any recommendations on a backup system/systems for our 2000 based
enterprise? We have exchange 2k, SQL 2k, active directory and public file
storage that needs backup on a nightly basis, about 40-50 gigs per app for a
total of about 180 gigs.

Priority would be ease of use/management and recovery - maybe even a two
tiered system for disk to disk (so that even active apps/files can be
archived), and then from disk to tape for archival.

Thanks!

I would recommend a SAN that has the ability to snap the luns and present
those snap sessions to another host for backup. A snap is a copy of first
write copy of a data lun.
A cheap solution is an Dell EMC AX100. The AX100 holds SATA drives and
performance is ok for low bandwidth applications. For SQL and Exchange
environments I would recommend a CX300 or CX500 depending on the amount of
money you can spend on your final solution.
