iSCSI HBA WHQL certification options |
|
|
Hello,
I have some questions regarding iSCSI WHQL certifications.
Any help is appreciated.
What WHQL certs can an iSCSI HBA (Initiator) attempt for Windows 2000
and 2003?
Win 2000
Initiator HBA cert only?
Win 2003
Initiator HBA cert?
Cluster cert?
When I look at HCT 12.1.01 I see many tests for iSCSI HBA.
Do all tests represent one WHQL cert?
Or does each test represent one type of Cert? (i.e. iSCSI boot,
redirection, etc...)
Is this HCT to be used with Win 2000 as well? Or only Win 2003?
Thank you,
Ben |

Jeff,
Thank you for your reply.
I have downloaded both System and Device Req and iSCSI specific doc.
These are very helpful.
The larger doc will take a little time to read...
I have also downloaded the HCT 12.1.1
Based on 1st look, a couple of beliefs and questions come to mind.
I am now focusing on only pre-cert component testing (no Logo).
I assume I can/should test...
Win 2000 - Cluster only - where iSCSI is treated the same as SCSI or FC
shared storage bus.
If using miniport driver, any reason I can not test 4 node?
In HCT 9.052 should I select a certain type of cluster test (i.e.
component)?
Win 2003 - Cluster and iSCSI HBA
I pick my Device type as iSCSI HBA and run ALL tests.
Will I need real targets that support the tests (i.e. target that
provides CHAP, or Rediretion, etc...) or does the HCT include software
target on Test Manager system?
For cluster test, a particular type of cluster test to pick?
For 4 node cluster, storport driver and Win2003 Server Enterprise + SP1
is required?
Docs assert that iSCSI HBA must support changers, disk, tape, and RAID
devices.
Do I need all these hardware devices?
Docs assert iSCSI compliance test, TCP compliance test, WMI compliance
test required.
Is all this included in HCT's?
Any other hardware or add-on software I need for this, or (again) HCT's
handle this?
Thanks for your friendly help and advice on this,
