McData Switch -Password issue. Please Help |
|
|
Hello All,
We have a mcdata switch Spherion that we got as loaner. We can get to
it through it the web browser using the Default Operator password but
we don't know the Administrator. How can we reset the Administrator
password?
Thanks in advance,
BTNA |

If it's a 4500 you'll need to login via the console cable using a special
password that tech support can give you, then reset the nvram. Sorry I
don't recall the password, but just call McData.

Hello,
You can console into the McDATA 4500 via null modem cable. I don't
recall the baud settings.
The engineering password is "redips", (reverse for spider). Once you're
in, you can hunt for the erase nvram cli command.
Once the switch has been reset to factory defaults, I believe the
username password is admin/password or administrator/password
Good luck,

56kbps 8N1 -- yes, a rather strange default.
There might also be some need to play with control flow.
