It sounds like you are looking for high level, techno-marketing
type of info. Some suggestions to get you started:

1) This has been discussed in this group a few times over the years.
Google news groups for 'application "64 bit" group:comp.arch'

In particular, there was a thread in Jan/2005 called
'Benefit or microprocessor when change from 32-bit to 64-bit'

but also others. This topic has been discussed since the
DEC Alpha was launched in 1992, possibly even earlier.

2) Try www.amd.com, the makers of the 64 bit x86 compatible chips.
Their web site has a 'Computing Solutions' section

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ComputingSolutions/0,,30_288,00.html

which looks like it might have that kind of info,
but I haven't looked at it so I'm just guessing.

3) Try www.intel.com. Their site is a lot bigger and may be
harder to find semi technical info on.
Also Microsoft might have such info.

Basically these companies all want people to buy their new
64 bit product lines so they produce 'justification' documents.
You just have to wade through it to glean the relevant info.

Hope that helps.

A quick google gets "College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of
Trinidad and Tobago". Homework.

If you are referring to my signature file, It is just to note that just
because I work for IBM and sometimes post from IBM's network, I am not
speaking in any way on behalf of IBM or presenting IBM's opinion about
anything.
