unmoveable sys files split |

win xp pro + sp2 when i do a clean install sometimes my un-moveable sys files
stay intact then they split into 2-or 3 sections for no apparant reason???
also when my sys gets corrupt i try to do a repair this goes fine until-
with 34mins to go & 2/3rds installing devices computer totaly locks up??
i have purchased a replacement disc but this still happens i have
re-installed at least
5 times in the past 2months it also miisis at least 2 files out every time
