WinPE CD questions

Postby cc » Thu Feb 19, 2004 12:51 pm

Hi,

OPK talking about to use the WinPE CD to boot then

**********
To create a bootable Windows PE disk (32-bit versions of Windows PE)

1.. Boot the destination computer into Windows PE using a Windows PE CD.
2.. Create a formatted and active partition.
3.. On the active partition, create a directory called C:\Minint. You must
name the directory "Minint".
4.. Copy the contents of build_location\i386 to C:\Minint.
********

Why my WinPE CD can only provide me a DOS command box and can only do
"Copy". No way to do the format and fdisk? and no GUI will be start up.

Thanks!

To configure your drive once booted to WinPE, you should be using diskpart.ex

What is it you are angling for? You trying to get Win PE to boot on a hard drive? (I am guessing so..?

Are you sure you copied from a build_location that was *not* the Win PE CD? (ie. a network path or putting the actual Windows media in the CD drive and copying from there

Did you copy ntldr, boot.ini and ntdetect.com to their respective places
(For example, copy \minint\setupldr.bin to c:\ntldr and buildlocation\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ntdetect.com

Hope I am helping. :

Thanks for your help

Yes, I'm creating the bootable Windows PE media,

The only difference is that I copy files to the minint from build_location in WinPE CD.
Do you mean I have to copy all \i386 files from the Windows 2003 CD? Because this is to create a minimum installation environment, so I think the build_location should the WinPE CD.

What else I should be noted? I'm confused for the steps

Thanks
