Networked Backup Storage Appliance Recommendation?

Postby Spam Catcher » Mon Nov 14, 2005 5:15 pm

Can anyone recommend a networked backup storage solution?

I've looked at products from Snap and Iomega.

Anything else out there that can automatically backup Windows + Linux
Servers? We're looking to backup about 7 or 8 servers continuously.

Have you thought about a newer technology solutons like Avamar? These
guys connect an appliance to your network, keep the volume of data
going to the appliance under control using commonality factoring and
then can do a function called "tape out". It would mean having data
available on line for instantaneous recovery and fewer tapes on the
backend for DR purposes. Its a good appliance and applicaiton.

You should also take a look at Broadleaf Services. Our ARCHEON is a
onsite appliance that automatically backs up data, stores it locall
for swift restores, and then sends it off to our data center for DR.

Very affordable. Much more so than Avamar.

NOTE: Full Disclosure! I work for Broadleaf
