Microsoft Vista Technology
It would be really really handy :
when we copy or past a file to another folder, that already contain one or
more file with the same file name. Than we always receive this message:
“this folder contain already the file with the name “…..”
Than we can cancel the operation or overwrite the already existing file.
Now, It would be really really handy when the new “Window Vista” version
gave us the opportunity to choose between (1) overwrite the already existing
file, (2) cancelling the operation, (3) manually giving another name or (4)
letting “Window Vista” rename the copied file automatically with a letter,
number or date near the moved file.

There used to be a wish list KB article that had an address for you to
submit such feature requests. I suppose the best thing you can hope for is
that someone will find this (that's a Vista beta tester) and will forward it
as there's no Microsoft employee's reading this for certain. (They might be
but it's not a sure bet that they are.) So, well... I can do that for you as
it's a nice idea. I'll go ahead and forward it. In the mean time you might
find that you enjoy playing with Sync Toy.
SyncToy for Windows XP:

(We've found a whole bunch of uses for it beyond the ideas of photos. It's
good fun.)
