Hi,
Right click on the old Documents and Settings folders you want to access
and click Properties/Security Tab/Click Advanced/Owner Tab/Select the
new owner and tick the box to replace on sub containers.
This will re-apply the permissions on all the folders to match the SID
of your new Windows build
Cheers
Greg

Conversation: Accessing "Documents and Settings" on another drive
Subject: Accessing "Documents and Settings" on another drive
My hard drive died. I tried to repair and reinstall Windows several
times. It
seems that any new data written to the hard drive can't be read back any
more. So I installed Windows on my old disk and I can access all folder
on
the new one now. The only problem is the "Documents and Settings" folder
where I kept all my documents. When I click on my user folder it says
"access
denied". I can access other users' folders and copy files from them
except
for my own. I'm stuck. Need help. Any ideas???
Thanks,
Alex |
