We are installing an evaluation copy of Veritas 9.1 onto a NAS box with Windows Storage Server 2003 Appliance Edition. When running the Browser.exe installation we get an error message that the specified module cannot be found. (Unable to load C:\DOCUME~1\Administrator.MTOFFICE\Local Settings\Temp{201E698C-B88E-41AE-8C46-3BBACADCD6E7\ResDll.dll). Does anyone have any ideas of what may be going wrong. Is it anything to do with the fact that we have the Appliance Edition? From all I have read Veritas 9.1 should work OK. Any help much appreciated

Nope. Anything under \temp should be provided by the installer (i.e. MS
doesn't place needed files there). Could be a problem with their setup.
Have you contacted Veritas?

Hi Pat thanks for the prompt reply. Yes I have contacted Veritas and they said "We suggest you to copy RESDLL.DLL file from any other system (Preferably from Windows 2003 system) to the \Winnt folder on the media server and then try running installation. " However we do not have the Dll file on any of our servers W2K or W2K3. One thought is could the NAS box be locked down so that you cannot install files to it over the network, (but of course you can store files there!). Would we be in with a better chance of installing veritas by burning it to CD and plugging in the USB CD drive and trying installing it from there? We had some trouble putting on the Anti Virus software and had to install it from CD rather than over the network. I'm going to give it a try later this morning. Many thanks for your help

Hi Pat, we have discovered the cause of the problem we have been having. Apparently to install anything onto the NAS box you have to be logged on as a Local Administrator and we were logged on as Domain Administrator. The software has now installed fine when logged on as Local Administrator.
