Accessing External RAID as Power User |
|
|
I have a unique system I am working with. I have a Windows 2003 Server PC
with an internal RAID (NTFS) connected via 2 GB fiber to an External RAID
(Non-NTFS). We have a need to allow a Power User the ability to connect the
external RAID to the file system. However currently I can only do this when
logged in as an administrator. Any suggestions? |

You'll need to add rights to the user. I believe it is the Manage Volume
right.

I've added Backup Operator Rights to Power Users, and that gives them access
to Disk Management, but still they cannot mount the external RAID to the file
system. That is still only allowable by Admins.

There is a specific right for "Perform Volume Maintenance Tasks" which is
assigned for Administrator's only by default.

maybe you can provide a bit more information on this. When you say
"non-NTFS", that tells me that disk management isn't going to help you
(unless it's some type of FAT volume). So what does "connect the external
RAID to the filesystem" mean to you? It sounds like you don't access this
using a Windows filesystem at all. So what is the filesystem?
