MS iSCSI Initiator Question |
|
|
Hi,
I'm very new to iSCSI, and we recently bought a NAS box which supports
iSCSI. The documentation shows how to get the storage device exported for
iSCSI. I downloaded Microsft iSCSI initiator, and was able to configure the
initiator and it showed me connected on the active sessions tab.
Unfortunately, i have no idea how to get access to that device now. I can
see that the initiator tells me i am connected to the target, but how do i
see the device and use it? Since i am just testing this out first, the NAS
box is on the same network as mine.
Thank you,
Ash |

By "see the device and use it" you mean use the storage? (I am assuming the
target has already been configured for use.)
Check disk manager. Should show up as if local disks.

Using the Ms iSCSI initiator interface, i added the ip of the NAS box on the
Target Portal, and it showed me avalable targets. I was able to click on
logon, and on the Active sessions, shows the session, and the status is
connected.
By disk manager, you mean check "my computer" icon and see if it shows up
with a driver? it doesnt show up there.
my apologies it the questions are crude
thanks.

Right click on my computer and choose Manage. Then click on Disk Management.
If you are connected correctly with the initiator the new volumes will be
there as an unformatted drive. Once you write a signature to the volume and
format it you will be able to assign a drive letter and it will appear in My
Computer beside the A: and C: drives.
