Will NT BAckup use a VSS hardware provider to back up an exchange server.

I've heard of no plans to include VSS capability with NTBACKUP. That's
probably because VSS is so hardware dependent.

Well, in regards to Exchange Server this statement is true.
But in general, when backing up regular files NTBACKUP works in concert
with VSS (unless you tell it not to). And in fact VSS is not so
hardware-dependant in general - it does save copies of files on
protected volumes.
