VSS service failure |

Hi, I am having an issue using backup software (Dantz Retrospect) and it has
to do with the Volume Shadow Copy Service. When I attempt an open file
backup, I get an error saying permission denied and this event is logged:

I am thinking it's because the "MS Software Shadow Copy Provider" is unable
to start. I have reinstalled COM+ and reregistered DLL's from posts I have
read, but it still won't start.
This is the message I get when I attempt to start it:
