Hi,

Am looking at the coding gain of convolutional encoder of
constraint length of 7.
In some places, theoritical upper bound is given as 10*log(R*D/2)
whereas others quote the coding gain as 10*log(R*D).
whre R - coding rate
D - free distance
Am confused as to which is the correct one.
Can someone help?!?

thanks!
