I read somewhere that with standard edition of Windows 2003 you have more
control of mounting and unmounting volumes on the SAN. Apparently you can
supress the automatic mounting of volumes. Can someone confirm or deny?

You can do this with Standard or Enterprise editions of 2003. The only
difference in Enterprise is that by default, the O/S is set to not
automatically mount new volumes.

If you want to set 2003 Standard Server to not automatically mount volumes,
you can do this by issuing a "mountvol /N" command. To re-enable
automounting on 2003, issue a "mountvol /E" command.

Regards,
John

You can also do this with diskpart.exe with the automount command.
enable
disable
scrub
