I have tried upgrading a system from NT4 sp6a to w2k3 sp1. The NT4 system
had two RAID set, one RAID1 and one RAID5, both with NTFS. The upgrade
didn't worked as planned and I scratch the system-partition, RAID1 and
installed a fresh copy of w2k3 sp1. The RAID5 partition I'm not sure if it's
converted from NTFS4 to NTFS5 (or 6 ?).
Now I want to extend the RAID5 with one more disk and I started with
converting the RAID5 basic disk to dynamic disk but nothing happens. The
only thing I can se is an eventlogg entry like "Service started, Source
Virtual disk, ID 3" and after a while "Service stopped, Source Virtual disk,
ID 4".

The only thing I do is from disk admin, choose the disk to convert, choose
"convert to dynamic disk", "choose disk" and ok

I have converted some disk before on other systems without any problem. I
also had some problem with disks coming from an NT4 system but then I got an
error message. But now I get nothing.

Can you help me ?

Sincerely

\\Jonas B

Yesterday when I posted this question I was epanding the RAID5 set with one
more disk. Now when the expand is ready it seems like I can convert the
RAID5 partition ?! The operating system should not be aware of that or ?
What the hack, now it's seems to work and I'm am happy !
