Change Log corrupt? |
|
|
Hi all,
I've no deep knowledge of ntfs or other filesystems, but i'm pretty
sure that the change log of one of my ntfs drives on our win2k3 server
doesn't work anymore.
We had a crash some days ago, with some filesystemerror that chkdsk
could repair. We are sharing this drive containing aprox. 700 GB of
Data for our Mac Users using a tool that publishes the drive and
indexes it for fast searching. The indexing part of this tool relays on
the change log of the ntfs system.
Since the crash, the tool doesn't index new files on the fly, we have
to init the scan manually. It prints an error stating that there's a
problem with the changelog.
i contacted the supportteam for this tool, reinstalled the software and
did some tests. On other drives on the same server (win2k3) it works
perfectly, just on this drive, even if the volumesharing is created in
different folders, it can't access the change log.
Chkdsk can't find any change log errors, but i don't know if it checks
for them.
Does anyone of you know a way to help us? I don't want to risk downtime
of several hours to recreate the drive and restore files from backup.
Thanks,
Jörg |
