The Department of Computer Sciences at San Diego State University
(http://www.cs.sdsu.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track
position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2006. Salary
is negotiable. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in Computer
Science or Computer Engineering and commitment to teaching at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate is expected
to have a demonstrated ability in innovative research and securing
external funding. The San Diego region has a large industry in
high-tech and biotechnology, focusing on multimedia, communications and
networking, bioinformatics, intelligent systems, and high performance
computing. In addition numerous world class research organizations and
companies are located in the San Diego area, such as the San Diego
Super Computing Center (SDSC), US Navy's SPAWAR, Salk Institute,
Qualcomm, SAIC, TRW and Sony. Many of our students have professional
positions in these companies or laboratories. The Computer Science
Department also enjoys the services of a newly established High
Performance and Distributed Computing Laboratory. The Department is in
a significant growth period with eight new positions scheduled for the
coming five years. A major emphasis has been placed on HPC, including
three new positions in the area of High Performance computing and a
major investment in building an HPC laboratory.

The successful candidate should have a strong interest in establishing
and maintaining ties with the regional industry. This position is open
to all areas of specialization in computer science. Preference will
however be given to candidates with research background in high
performance computing, parallel computing, and distributed computing. A
background in computer architecture and design is desirable but not
required. To apply, send a complete resume, a statement of research and
teaching interests, and have three letters of reference sent to:

Computer Science Search Committee Department of Computer Sciences San
Diego State University San Diego CA 92182-7720

All applications received by January 13, 2006 will receive full
consideration.
