I noticed this problem in the File Explorer of Windows XP SP1:

When I sort by name ascending, I get the following weird result:

12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041102
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041103
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto2003050130Ans

It's like if Windows XP considers 2003050130 being larger than
20041103. From a number prospective it is larger indeed, but
what I would expect here is that the Ascii sequence is taken into
consiretaion instead.

If I rename Gatto2003050130Ans in Gatto20030501-30Ans, then everything is
back to normal, i.e.

12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20030501-30Ans
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041102
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041103

Strange isn't it?

Note that DOS'es "dir /on" works fine. It gives this nice result:

Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is A0B2-B0A5

Directory of C:\DOCUME~1\Stefano\MYDOCU~1\MYPICT~1\test

12-Sep-04 20:33 <DIR> .
12-Sep-04 20:33 <DIR> ..
12-Sep-04 20:33 0 dirdos.txt
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto2003050130Ans
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041102
12-Sep-04 20:30 <DIR> Gatto20041103
1 File(s) 507 bytes
5 Dir(s) 11,437,113,344 bytes free

Any comment is welcome.
