Scenario :-
The "Public" folder contains subfolder "E200" & within
the subfolder contains 2nd level subfolder "Software"
& "Driver". The "Software" folder has been shared for
certain users only while the "Driver" folder is shared
for all users. The "E200" folder also contains others
folders which aren't shared.

Problems:-
Whenever I'd tried to map a Network Drive for "Software"
on Windows 98SE Client PC, it always mapped the Parent
folder "Public" instead of the "Software" folder. Which
in terms allow the user to access all folders in "Public"
folder. I've tried removing the user's access in
the "Public" permissions, but still the mapping was done
one the Parent folder "Public" and not "Software" folder
only.
I can view the "Software" subfolder in the 'My Network
Places' on the Windows Server Std 2003, but I can't view
it on the Windows 98SE PC when browsing under 'Network
Neighborhood', I've already tried installing the patch
called "DS Client for Windows 98" but the problems still
persist.
It has no problems on Client running Windows ME, XP and
this problems only occurs on all Windows 98SE Client PCs.

Have Tried :-
1) Moved "Software" folder out from parent
folder "Public", can't even view the "Software" folder at
all.

2) Installed "DS Client for Windows 98", still persist.

3) Removed user's permissions in "Public" folder and all
other's folder. Still can access, because mapped to
parent directory.

Please help me, I'm running out of ideas & solutions,
anybody please help.

Thanks,
Daniel Cheah.

her is the answer, windows 98 is very network malficiant.. your best bet is
to backup all of your stuff and reload your machine with either 2000 pro or
XP Pro.. that will solve the file sharing and the default locations.
