Preventing Accidental Folder Moves |
|
|
I would like to prevent accidental dragging and dropping
of folders by users.
I have a 2003 AD controller with a shared work folder.
It has subfolders for each year. The year folders have
subfolders for project number. Each project folder has
subfolders and files.
I would like to allow users to have control of everything
in the project folder but not be able to delete the
folder itself. I would also like to prevent them from
accidentally clicking and dragging one project folder
into another.
It seems impossible to me. I have tried many
combinations of rights and I am unable to find a working
solution.
Any ideas? |

This question is often asked, but I've never seen a solution, sorry. Gotta
say that this is one of the very few places in which I'd really *like* to
get a nag dialog box warning....

One thing that does help is to increase the number of pixels needed to
be regarded as a drag,. It does not stop deliberate dragging into a
different folder (I know nothing that will, it is such a fundamental
part of the interface), but it will reduce the generation of accidental
copies. You can do it with the TweakUI Powertoy, on the Mouse page. I
set it about 25 pixels, an intentional drag will go at least that far
