Hello all,

I am not certain if this would be a file system question but I figured
I'll start the post here.
I am looking at using offline files configured on a share as a
repository for a redirected My Documents folder. Unfortunately, I noticed
that unless a user "accesses" the file or folder the data is not cached to
the local machine. I have read through the deployment papers for
redirection of folders and have been unable to find a way to change this
behavior. I have a mix of Windows 2000 and Windows XP clients that need
this capability. Does anyone have any suggestions to force offline files to
be created for all files in a directory?

Not that I know of, because the selection of offline files is usually set on
the client (although you might get more help in m.p.windows.group_policy).
Personally, I've found offline files not worth the trouble as I've seen too
many incidents of lost data - I use offline files functionality only for
home/remote/laptop users, and I use a third party app called SecondCopy 2000
(www.centered.com) for it.

However, you may be able to do what you wish via policy. Try the GP group.

Sounds fair to me. Thanks for the little bit of advice.
