Dear all,

I have an interesting problems here and can't fix without any help.

I setup a new Windows 2003 file server joining a Windows 2003 AD and find
that the file access on the network share on this file server is very slow on
only some Windows NT 4.0 sp6 and Windows XP PC.

Anyone experience this before ?

What is the problem of this ? I am think if the Windows times service
cause this problem as I haven't config the Windows 2003 times service yet.

We also find that , as we move file from Novell volumn, we use the Windows
logon script together with the novell client from novell (novell logon
first), then we found some of the network share we map will sometime map to a
novell network volumn, which we never map on that driver , say G:\ .

Any one can help.

Marrow.

Hello

- Any inbound/outbound Virusscanning SW running?
- NW Card 100MB/Full Duplex or Halfe Duplex? Both modes have to correspond
within your network. I assume good should be Full Duplex.

Just a few guesses. Greetings Marcel

I check everythign already including your comment for a while already. I
think one of the speed up is add reverse DNS lookup and it helps at lot .

However, open a word or excel documentation is quite low, I don't know why .

Hello

Maybe to monitor what exactly happens on your system could help. If you look
under http://www.sysinternals.com you will especially find the
Processmonitor. There you also have a nice TCP monitoring.

Also check if normal Filecopy to the server will face the problem! If not,
you have a deep look internal on the clients... with my describen tools... :-)

Good luck, don't give up!

Hi,

I will use the tools thanks. by the way , I am working with Microsoft to
find out why, I install Windows 2003 on my client and it doens' happen like
this .probably due to the Novell client for Windows XP. I will try to remove
it and try it. then reinstall and try it and see the different.
