files and associating them |
|
|
Hi,
I am running Windows 2000 and installed a graphics program which was a
trail. When it expired, I deleted it. However, it must have taken some of
my files away. Now when I click on a photo (extension .jpg, .tif, gif,
etc.), the computer doesn't know how to open it. I get the grey box to
associate a program but I can't find where it is located. Pics open ok with
Word and Publisher, it is just when I am trying to open them by themselves.
Any suggestions??
Thanks! |

Hi - you have a reply in m.p.win200.general.
In the future, please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple
groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a
handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that
everyone can follow the thread. This makes it easier for everyone, including
you. :)

No, just the association for image files.
You could go to www.irfanview.com and download Irfanview, a free,
*extrememy* good graphics viewer. You can choose which file formats to
associate it with (on installation or later).
If there's a program on your machine that you want to open these
files, then select a file, shift+right-click it, and select "Open
With". Select the program from the list box (or use the "Browse..."
button to find it, check the "Always use..." box and click "OK". The
file will open in the selected program and the association will be
made.
