ShadowCopy major issue |
|
|
On one of our many windows 2003 servers we are having major problems with the
Volume Shadow Copy service. Basically, the following occurs on certain
directories.
Save a file with file name 11-8-04.txt
take a snapshot
open the file tomorrow and make a change
take a snapshot
open the file again the next day and it is the original file, but the new
version showes up in previous versions client.
It is like the file system always points to the oldest file when you open
it, but the newer versions of the file are still in existance, only they are
hidden until the client is used to view them.
Help on this one would be great. |

Simple question first. Is the date and time correct on this machine? I
assume it is.
Please confirm the following is correct:
1) on W2K3 machine, you enable Shadow Copies of Shared Folders with default
setting.
Default is 7:00AM and 12:00PM with diff area on same volume
2) you create a file 11-8-04.txt with data of "11-8-04"
3) you manually create a snapshot from the admin UI
4) you open the file and change the data in the file to "1234"
5) you close AND save the changes
6) you manually create a snapshot from the admin UI
Now, if you open the document is the data "1234"?
Are you rebooting the machine between any of these steps?
