Hi, Cathal.
Since ALL of Windows is in the X:\Windows folder, that folder is not
missing, even though you might not be able to see it. The computer can find
it, even if you can't.
Since you told us NOTHING about your computer or your version of Windows,
I'm assuming that you are running Win9x/ME or WinXP and that you did not
change the name of the "boot folder" from the default. WinNT and WinXP used
\WinNT as the default name. And I'm assuming that you are now using the
computer from which you think that folder is missing.
What makes you think it is missing? HOW have you tried looking for it?
Tell us enough about your computer and your version of Windows so that we
don't have to go entirely on guesses and we can probably help you.

please excuse R.C's short and terse answer; we really do want to help...
to locate your Windows directory, simply go to a DOS prompt:
Click Start
Click Run
type COMMAND and hit enter
at the C:...> prompt, type SET
look for the "windir=" variable (it will begin in lowercase)
that is the directory your Windows environment resides in.
There may also be a variable called "SystemRoot=" - I cannot recall.

Hi, sjcsupport.
My post was not meant to be "short and terse". It was a request for enough
information to let us help the OP. It did elicit the information that the
question is about Win98SE. I've not run Win98 in about 4 years and have
forgotten a lot about it, so I'm glad you were able to help solve the
problem.
At least, I hope Cathal's problem has been solved and that we will soon see
a post reporting either success or need for further help.
