Moving LUN from Solaris to W2K3 in EMC CX600 |
|
|
hi all,
there are 6 LUNs are belonging to a Solaris usage in CX600.
for some reasons, I am ready to move these 6 LUNs to
new-added W2K3 host for other usage.
I've heard from someone, some feature/action like"format" should
be selected/performed in Navisphere Manager to make LUNs available to
Windows
But I can't find any relative fields in Navisphere, and I thinks
that is unreasonable.
anyone could help?
TIA,
ZL. |

There is no equivalent "format" command within the Clariion system.
The format command works on filesystems (Windows) or partitions
(Solaris), and the Clariion has no visibility into either of these. I
guess there may be a way to rebuild a LUN's VTOC, but you shouldn't
need to do this. You should be able to move the LUN by removing them
from the Solaris host's storage group to the Windows host's (provided
all of the required zoning is in place).

Just un-mapping the LUN from the Solaris machine, and re-mapping it or
re-presenting it to the Windows machine should be trivial. No formatting
takes place in the SAN management interface.
Windows' Disk Manager should be able to pick up all "disks" or volumes
presented to it, although the "Rescan Disks" isn't always successful. A
reboot may be necessary.
I doubt the filesystem structure will be of much use to Windows, so you
will have to write a signature to the "disk" and re-format it.
Should be completely trivial |
