2 Raptor SATA 10.000 rpm on ichr5 raid0, Asus P4C800-E, Windows XP SP2 +
Intel Raid Application Accelerator.

When using HD Tach 3, I get a strange graphic, instead of a more of less
straight line slowly going down, I got plenty of up and downs on the
same 70-90 MB/s range...

Looks like this:
/\
/ \
/\ / \ / etc..
/ \ / \ /
\/ \/ \ /
\/

Burst speed 181 MB/s
Average Read 74.5 MB/s

What's wrong?

Thanks for helping.

Quick ideas:

1) 181MB/s is the cached data transfer speed
2) 74.5MB/s is what the disks actually spit out if reading data
2.1) the changes in speed are due to fragmentation of files across the disks
3) are all the optimal values set for DMA, caches, etc?
4) what's the size of the stripe? Maybe it should be slightly
smaller/bigger?

/m
