I, and at least one other person
(http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=88566), have installed
a Raid 0 with two SATA drives. I used a Via Raid Tool. I am not sure what
the tangojr used, but we both seem to have Abit Mobos, and probably both have
the Via Raid SATA controller. The Via Raid Tool says one can use it or set
the raid up with the bios. As I said, I used the Raid Tool after Windows was
installed. After I employed the tool, Drive D disappeared.

The problem is that Windows reports the remaining drive, Drive C, with
significantly reduced capacity from what the Via Raid tool software reports.
Essentially, Windows reports the capacity at about the capacity of drive C
before it joined the array, not the double capacity the Raid tool reports.

Disk manager, in both cases, mine and Mr. Tangojr's, reports the "missing"
capacity as unallocated space on drive 0. Mr. Tangojr was able to allocate
this space. It became drive D. However, he seemed to have to reinstall
windows immediately thereafter indicating a potential issue with this
procedure. I have left him a request to clarify what happened after he
allocated this space.

The Raid does function as a raid 0 as HD Tach reports a doubling in
read/write speed.

BTW, I have version XP Pro x64. Mr. T seem to have the x32 version of
Windows XP Pro.

The raid controller is Via SATA.

On boot, the bios detects the SATA drives, but does not detect a RAID.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
