And if that assumes more knowledge than you have, try "The Cache memory
Book" by Jim Handy. While a little dated, it covers the basics quite well.

Two books from IEEE Computer Society cover this in great detail:
The Cache Coherence Problem in Shared-Memory Multiprocessors: Software
Solutions
by Tartalja and Milutinovic
2003
The Cache Coherence Problem in Shared-Memory Multiprocessors: Hardware
Solutions
by Tomasevic and Milutinovic
1994
The second one is out of print but may be available in a technical
library.
