I have memory mapped the harddisk updated the device driver to
register the address and the IRQ.

For debugging I try to understand how the probing works and try to
find out when and where the kernel accesses the hardware to find out
what type of disk is connected.

I am struggling with ide.c and ide-probe.c, but so far I can not
understand the exact flow and have no idea where the kernel for the
first ime accesses the hardware.

Any info/tips related to this subject ?

Thanks,

Marcel
