Hi,

When searching through the USA's patent database there are over 100 patents
about turbo codes etc.
( Talk about a bunch of parasites lol :) )

This site seems to describe two different turbo coding techniques

http://www.spectralicensing.com/licfaq.htm

Turbo Convolutional Codes were invented by Claude Berrou
Turbo Block Codes were invented by Ramesh Pyndiah

What is the difference between these two coding techniques ?

Did the original inventors patent there inventions in the USA ?

Did the describe it in one patent or multiple ? ;)

And last but not least if so which patent numbers do they have ? =D

I would like to understand how turbo codes work. I could ofcourse by a book
and maybe learn from it.

But the patent office requires patents to be clear etc to anybody who has
some knowledgde about it etc..

I have knowledge about programming... maybe not so much about error
correcting codes.

I do wonder if I would be able to understand it. At the moment I think
not... but who knows ;)

Most patents I came across are about like satelites, statistics, multi
plexing, multi decoding, bit trailers, all kinds of weird stuff, so much
different parasited stuff I can't even find the original work ;) but maybe
that's the intention... parasiting it to death or maybe it s just reallly
good stuff ;) =D

Bye,
Skybuck.
