Hi,

Can some one please tell me how we can remove the registered iSCSI targets
from Microsoft iSNS v3.0's General tab? It seems we have to wait for 20 min
before they are gone from there.

I remember we could remove the registered iSCSI targes from Windwos Registry
DB, but I could be wrong.

Thanks,

TJ.

This behavior is by design.

[1] To stay registered with the Microsoft iSNS Server, an iSNS client (e.g.
an iSCSI target) needs to either register for ESI or continually maintain
its own iSNS registration. If the target crashes or disappears, and no
longer responds to ESI or otherwise maintains its iSNS registration, then
after three retries the registration is finally removed. By default, this
can take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes.

[2] That is, for each iSNS client, Microsoft iSNS Server assigns a default
Entity Registration Period of 900 seconds (15 minutes). However, if an iSNS
client (e.g. a target) chooses to register a shorter Entity Registration
Period time of, say, 30 seconds, then the deregistration can occur much
sooner.

The registrations are stored on disk, not in the registry, so there is no
way to remove them manually.

Jeff,

Thanks so much for the information.

When you say the registrations are stored on disk, I assume it is in a file.
If this is true, can we modify this file to remove registered targets
manually?

Thanks,
TJ,
