Remote Storage |

Greetings to all!
I currently have an older HP Magneto Optical library running @ home.
I'd like to use the unit with Remote Storage.
The changer works, and RS seems to recognize the media. It inventories
itself and gives me a listing of the media.
However, when I format or mount the disks, I get the following error:
Event ID: 4334: NT Media Services (RSM), Error, Unexpected on-medium
identifier.
The disk fails to "mount", and therefore the RS migration fails
miserably.
This is a MO drive. Shows up like a removable hard disk. I can format,
merrily read and write to the disks through Windows Explorer. It all
*works*, but yet RS dies with a 4334 on disk mount (even though it says
the correct information for the disk).
I've tried formatting the disks (long format) with NTFS, FAT32, and FAT
beforehand to feeding them to Remote Storage. Each time I get a 4334.
Library (and drive) tests out OKAY under HP Library & Tape Tools.
Brightstor ArcServe runs fine with the unit, backups & restore.
Any ideas? Or is Remote Storage just hopelessly broken ("Its not a bug,
its a feature"?).
Cheers! |
