What about the SAN Storage??!! |
|
|
Hi, I'm preparing tfor the MCSE 2003, and curiously I've searched for MCSE's
Job Vacancies on the Internet, and what surprised of the number of the
results which I've seen. However, I was shocked when I saw the required
skills concentrated on SAN Storage, ASP.NET, And SQL server.
I didn't see things like (SMS, ISA, IIS, Security+, etc.) that much, and I
started to think seriously about having a SAN specialization (If it exists).
now what do you think of learning SAN, and is there any certificate which is
specified for that, and what are the resources for it???
any helpful reply will be highly appreciated.
thank you very much

Hi ameer,
as I know by now, there is no certification for storage from microsoft
provided. but there are special certificates provided by the manufacturer
such as fujitsu siemens or dell or ibm. in that case you'll get a special
training on the storage-systems distributed by them. it doesn't matter which
on you choose cause the basics allways the same and sofar you got
successfull one of them, yoou'll be able to manage any SAN-System. mostly
the SAN-Storages are anyway from EMC. So far, teh technoligy is allways same
or similar. those manufacture certificates are proofed for one year usually
and you'll have to redo it to continue your certification.
hope that helps.
greetings from munich, steve ;-))

Brocade or McData certifications are a good start for learning about SAN
storage. Also most SAN vendors, such as EMC have a certification program to
specialize in their product lines.
I would also consider getting MS Cluster certified a must.
