Hi Group,

I have a W2k3-server with an external storage (HDS9500).
I mapped 50GB as lun 0 --> everything´s OK, the lun is recognized by
win.
As second lun I mapped 2GB (same server, same HDS, same controller,
same
port, same switch, ...) as lun 102. Windows did NOT see this lun
(yes, I did a disk-rescan/reboot). If I map the same 2GB as lun 4,
windows DID see it! OK, so I map it to lun 10 --> Windows did NOT see
it.....

2GB --> lun 102 doesn´t work
2GB --> lun 004 work
2GB --> lun 010 doesn´t work

Can anybody give mit a hint?????

Thank You in advance!

Hi,

ok, it´s done.
It was an option on the HDS:
"Logical Unit Number more than or equals to 8 can be recognized by
Windows2000/2003"

Windows in general will have issues reconizing LUN IDs greater than FF.

Right. If 102 is a decimal value, you are ok. Windows only supports single
level peripheral device addressing. Actually, 0-254 are usable. If you use
any other scheme, wraparound of the LUN number can occur and the results are
"less than desirable".

The Hitachi option enables support for the REPORT LUNS command which is
required to go beyond LUN 7 (scsiport) or to see any luns (storport).
