I'm currently writing a VSS Writer for our database, and it uses RAW disks. I have heard
that VSS will only make transportable copies of dynamic volumes.

Is this true? If so, what is the minimal 'thing' that VSS will accept as a source for a
transportable shadow copy? Will it accept a Dynamic Disk with no partitions? I'm hopeful
that an actual file system isn't needed. I can re-write the db engine to use unformatted
space smaller than a disk, say a partition, but it wouldn't be a small project to make it
work on top of a Windows file system.
