does anybody know of a good tutorial for testing a simple filter

i've made my filter so do i now use y = filter(b,a,X)
to test different frequencies to see if the correst signal is being
removed?
where b & a are the num and den and x is the sinal to be filtered?

Hi student,

Assuming you're using Matlab, then simply use the freqz(b,a) function,
which will give you the magnitude and phase response of the filter.
