Re: Migrating external array to new server |

Thad
As long as both servers are members of the same domain, and the permissions
are based on domain accounts, I wouldn't expect you to lose permissions.
Permissions are stored with the files themselves, on the disk array.

I will be moving an external array from a Windows 2000
server to a Windows 2003 server. The array controller
will be moved from the W2K server to the new 2003 server
and then the array will be moved to the same card. This
is a 800GB array containing home directories for users.
I suspect that moving the array will result in losing the
permissions. The data will move fine after adding a
drive letter for the "new" array in 2003 but what about
permissions? Will I be forced to use tape backup/restore
to migrate this data? Thanks |
