utality Compaq's Presario Vault Ver.1.00 to lock phsically the files, it
worked very cool. But unfortunatly i have had to format my partition c:, all
was okay but the locked file could not recovered since then even i
reinstalled the Presario Vault Ver.1.00 but it was not able to show my old
locked files. I have lost my improtant data, I need any quick help. some

Did you do a backup of your data? You should do this regularly, you know....
I'm not familiar with the utility you used and suggest you contact their
tech support for help. You may be out of luck, but it's worth a shot.

First of all thanks for the response, dear i have searched the Compaq site
for support but no such information is
available there, even no such information on anyother discussion group
available on the net. and i dont have any backup for that particular files
and folders specifically.

Have you tried calling them on the phone?
I don't know that you'll be able to get your data back unless they have a
fix. It would be pretty lousy encryption if you could bypass it easily.

As I said, any encryption method that allowed you to bypass it easily
wouldn't be much of an encryption method. So no, not unless the
developer/support people have some idea. You have an entirely new user
account now & didn't back up your keys/certificate first - so I think you're
out of luck. Don't play with any file/folder encryption unless you're
absolutely sure you knowhow to use it properly.
