Windows driver for EMC Symmetrix disk array? |
|
|
I'm struggling to get an HP Proliant server (running Windows 2000 SP4)
to recognise an EMC Symmetrix disk array.
I'm using a HP "FCA2214DC" fibre adapter in the server (from the Qlogic
website, this seems to be re-badged QLA2340). The fibre adapter
appears to be working OK in Windows. However, when I physically
connect the Symmetrix disks to the server (ie. plug the fibre into the
adapter) the Windows "Found New Hardware Wizard" fires-up, requesting a
driver for an "EMC SYMMETRIX SCSI Array" device. I can't find a driver
for this, so logged a call with EMC. However, EMC advise that this is
a bogus message & there isn't any such driver - they say that Windows
should see the disks automatically (which its not).
Any ideas? any help will be greatly appreciated!
I've listed some additional details below...
- I've downloaded & installed the latest Windows driver for the fibre
adapter from elabnavigator.emc.com (was Vers. 9.0.0.13 is now Vers.
9.0.2.12)
- As recommended in elabnavigator, I've applied Windows Hotfix Q883114
- I've upgraded the firmware on the fibre adapter to Version 1.47 (was
1.34) |

Uninstall the existing driver. Reboot, install the Vers.9.0.2.12 driver.
Have you configured the QLogic HBA BIOS to enable it to see luns over 0? By
default, QLogic HBA's are set to see only Lun 0, you need to change that
parameter to see luns upto 256.

PROBLEM NOW FIXED!!
Problem due to V-Bit being incorrectly set on the EMC disks (also had
to change LUN setting too, so many thanks to Ramesh for his advice). |
